Comunidad y amigos son la familia que eliges
01. July 2021
Para mi la comunidad y los amigos son familia. La familia que eliges. En mi opinión, la comunidad es muy importante. Siento que necesitamos comunidad, conexión, contacto físico e intercambio.

A couple of days ago I went with Andrea (the German woman I live with right now) and her cute dogs to a village called Llano Grande in the mountains of Oaxaca. It’s part of an ecotourism project that helps to maintain the forest and integrates the people there. I saw that I needed it badly: connecting with nature and be in a place without any internet connection and in silence. It helped me to rethink some things. During walking through the forest and watching the simple life of the people...

I took a bus from Bacalar to Palenque into the jungle. I was there last year and I wanted to check it out for my tour. On my way from the bus station in Palenque to the community El Panchan I experienced once again the power of Karma. And when I arrived in the jungle it started to rain constantly. But I loved it. In Palenque I got to know to a young Mexican artist who showed me around for my tour. And I lived next door to Cheech and Chong ;-). In the restaurant in El Panchan I felt a bit like...

On the 14 of February I took a flight back to Mexico to check out the places for my Travel to Come Closer tour starting on the18th of April 2016. I started in Cancun where I got to know to a funny French guy who was with me in the same airplane. From Cancun I went to Bacalar at the beautiful Laguna de 7 colores where I took a kayak in the morning before sunrise to enjoy it on the plane lake accompanied by the sound of the birds. In Bacalar I remembered why I fell in love with Mexico...

Casa Na-Bolom in San Cristobal de las Casas
02. September 2015
From 6th of April to 1 of May 2015: I arrived in the early morning in San Cristobal de las Casas where I had already a workaway place in a hostel. Back in San Cris I stayed exactly one night at my workaway place and left it on the next morning due to an interesting night… and found immediately another place. This great “coincidence” brought me together with a very lovely and brave girl from Russia. And guess what… The first person I bumped into was my loco Mayan warrior! I had a crazy...

From 31st of March to the 5th of April: When I came back from Guatemala my biggest wish was to see Oaxaca again before I would fly back to Europe. So I took a bus to Oaxaca after a stopover in San Cristobal de las Casa. I was also looking forward to meet my Mexican friend again. I was very excited because now I was able to talk with him properly in Spanish… I stayed for a couple of days in my favorite hostel Azul Cielo because it was booked out due to Semana Santa. It was time enough to get...

26 March to 30 March 2015: From Antigua in Guatemala I took a shuttle bus to San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico where I caught up with a friend of mine: the French girl I have met in Oaxaca during my second stay there. I was very curious to come back to Mexico because I left it with almost not speaking Spanish. Finally I could use it! At that time I already booked a flight back to Spain in May. . I wanted to see Oaxaca for third time before I would fly. Therefore I was looking for a workaway...

A couple of days ago I had an open-minded conversation with a friend of mine in San Cristóbal de las Casas in Mexico in the hostel where I’m working for. I told my friend that I wanted to write about how reliving “giving up” can be. I mentioned an example from a Buddhist book. Well, his answer let me think... It reminded me about the more we have the more we fear to lose. I call it the “American Beauty” effect. Well, and everyone who lived for a while in a shared apartment while...

After 2 weeks of great grounding in Oaxaca I traveled to San Miguel de Allende because my American friend from Porto Escondido told me he would do a Spanish class there. Also the family where lived would be great. So I decided to go there as well. Moreover it was close to Mexico City from where I took my flight to Guatemala City few days later. My time in Mexico City was interesting… There I lost my debit card which brought me for a moment out of balance and showed me what I really feared. I...

I decided to go back to Oaxaca when the homesickness hit me very badly in Porto Escondido. I needed to do normal things and ground a bit. That was in February 2015. I went back into the hostel “Azul Cielo” in Oaxaca where I already knew some very nice people. I felt a kind of home there. And I love Oaxaca! It is a very nice city. There I stayed for two weeks, gave Yoga classes at Azul Cielo, did a jewelry course, attended with some friends Ernesto’s concert and colored my hair into my...
